Robert's BBQ
Here's a change of pace for you. While in Charleston, you have to visit Robert's. There are 2 locations to serve you. One is located on Rivers Ave, and the other on Ashley Phosphate Rd, almost down to Dorchester Rd in North Charleston. We stopped into the Robert's on Rivers Ave. to grab a quick dinner, since during the day we'd had such a large lunch. I should've known better. This is some of the best BBQ you can imagine. It's a mustard base BBQ sauce, that is nice and sweet, soaked up in shredded pork, or beef. I got the BBQ pork sandwich with onion rings. The onion rings are a very large portion, perfect for sharing. We ended up wasting about an entire order there were so many and they're so large. They have a sweetness all their own to them, by far the best onion rings I've ever had in all my travels. We also tried a cheeseburger. As far as cheeseburgers go, this has be ranked up in the top 10, nice and greasy, toasted bun, cheese was good and melted, not too big that you couldn't get your mouth around it, but you weren't wondering where they hid the meat either. Service here is fairly nonexistent, after all, it's more like a fast food joint, but the staff was very friendly, patient, and accommodating with our questions about their fairly extensive menu. I'll definitely be back.
